There's very few secret locations left in the world of food these days so when you find one just minutes from your house you have to check it out. The Deli on Flora Terrace in North Beach is a popular breakfast haunch for the locals that few outside the suburb know exist. Well, those locals have been hiding one of Perth's best kept secrets!

The first thing you'll notice is the Flora Terrace Deli is very relaxed and open, you won't be pushing your way through chairs and people to find a cramped corner to sit at. No, the Deli's tables are very spread out and kept well away from the ordering area.

I want to start with the customer service, because I honestly believe there are few places in Perth I've been to that are better at it. I've been there twice now and on both occasions the employees were quick to have a joke and make suggestions and looked properly happy doing so - a very refreshing change from the obvious forced smiles and politeness from many other businesses.

I noted that they kept this level of service for everyone that walked through, and between the people behind the counter they seemed to know absolutely everyone's names, occupations, street names and dog breeds!

Now, the food. I want to say that it is excellent... and that's because it is. I'm a big fan of hash browns which is part of the reason I've never eaten fast food, so upon seeing you can get three hash browns for $5 I read no further. They're homemade, and you can really tell they're homemade. Complete with bacon and spring onion the Flora Terrace hash browns are a great quick breakfast at a very reasonable price.

Of course there's more than just hash browns. The Deli has a whole host of popular and interesting food options. Pulled pork burritos, chicken and avocado croissants, burgers, muesli, pancakes... it's all there and all homemade. You can click on the menu image for their complete range.

As for drinks, I've been told the coffee is great (though I don't drink coffee myself) and you can tell the juice is fresh - mainly because they squeeze it right in front of you. They've got a fridge with a small selection of popular beverages and even a Ben & Jerry's ice cream fridge!

The Deli is also dog friendly, your furry friends are most welcome in the outside dining area. I had a very hard time thinking of something they could do better... perhaps the chalkboard menu is a bit hard to read, and food is still served in takeaway containers if your dining in, but that is being picky.

The Flora Terrace Deli is a secret North Beach locals have done well to hide. A casual and open atmosphere is complimented with excellent service, great, well priced food & drink and happy dogs. When all the factors are considered is there a better breakfast and lunch spot in Perth? Maybe, but I'm yet to find it.

You can find the Flora Terrace Deli on Twitter and Facebook . They do however seem to have forgotten to pay Mr. website man . Oh and it isn't just me singing their praises, I couldn't find a single negative review online. How rare is that!
