With a number of good cheap meals to be had around Melbourne, it is refreshing to find somewhere like Delhi Belly, located in the Docklands area, which still offers not only good food at a reasonable price, but also value customer service and cleanliness as well.
Tucked around the back of a large office block, the restaurant itself is fronted by windowed trolley of trays that hold a selection of curries and sides during the day for take-away orders for those who work nearby. At night however, it become much more of a traditional Indian restaurant, even if it does look somewhat confused inside, it does also offer a selection of Indo-chinese cuisine and it seems this has been added to the decor as well.
The staff were friendly and attentive, even adjusting the spice levels according to the wishes of the patrons. Be warned, those of a delicate disposition should watch the dishes they order - almost everything comes with a bit of spice on the side, so some yoghurt on standby can help but the fire out if it proves too hot. The hot curries aren't anything to worry about if you like spicy.

Delhi Belly - Mixed Starters
The food itself is a nice mix of authentic Indian and more westernized versions. Starters are some Indian classics, Sheek Kebabs, Chicken Tikka, Onion Baji amongst others. For main courses you can get your favourite Butter Chicken, Vindaloo, Paneer and a host of other menu options. Desserts, while somewhat limited, do offer some good options but the Gulab Jamun is highly recommended

Delhi Belly - Curry and Rice
It may be a little out of the way and hard to find, but it is well worth a visit if you are in the mood for a good value Indian meal, especially for for those post-football fans coming out of the Etihad.
