I am a mum of two and Primary School teacher whose aim is to never be home during the midday movie. I believe that I am only ever a car trip away from an adventure.

Forget denim disasters I have found the only place to shop
I don't think I was genetically engineered to wear jeans and I'm sure I'm not the only person to feel this way. I've heard it said that shopping for jeans outweighs swimwear shopping in the stress department and that says something. Denim despair is a universal condition that can hit any one of us at any time and I want it stopped!

Dressing Room Mayhem

But regardless of my denim fear I refuse to not wear it because lets face it, they are the major player in many a wardrobe and most of my outfits be that for work, home or evening normally start to come together around my jeans of choice. So the challenge was to find the perfect pair, the fail safes that I could count on and keep coming back to again and again, maybe incorporating a new colour or a different cut depending on the trends and seasons.

And I have managed to do just that! The best news is now you don't have to slog through store after store to find your look, just follow my directions and you too will soon be sporting perfect jeans in a flash!

Dejour Jeans
Modest Front Window

Dejour Jeans is my secret, although locals have been aware of it forever. They are located on Sydney Road in Brunswick and with the modest window display (it kind of looks like you should just keep walking) it is easy to pass. But magic happens inside so keep eyes peeled and don't miss it.

Inside this jean-mart are rows and rows and stacks and stacks of jeans in ranges of colours, sizes and styles. We're taking regular, skinny and boyfriend, greens, blacks, blues, burgundies! Mid rise, low rise, high waist, boys and girls! And their latest offering is corduroy!

Stacks of sizes and colours

So what? I hear you say. Sounds like any other store in any other suburban shopping centre. Why hike all the way to Brunswick?

The owner of Dejour has been tailoring and creating his own jeans brand for many years and if there's anything to know about the perfect fit, well then this guy and his crew know it. The staff infact will not let you leave until they are completely satisfied that they have nipped and tucked and fitted your jeans onto your body as if they were a second skin.

Styles to suit everybody

You see, they have sewing machines onsite and they are armed with experts ready to alter, fit and adjust. And not just taking up hems might I add, anything from tapering ankles to taking in waists to reducing the cat whiskers around pocket areas.

Depending on when you come and what you need doing, it can take as little as 15minutes to be ready or longer for more complex alterations. I always manage to fill my time with a coffee on Sydney Road and a scavenge through Savers before I find myself bolting back wondering where the time went.

Do be warned however, on week days it gets busy in here and on Saturdays you might be lined up out the door, no exaggeration. You might want to bring a camp chair.

If your still skeptical, let me tell you that prices start from $50 for a pair of jeans to $55 for the newer styles and heavier winter denim jeans. That includes the personal fitting and all the alterations they make for you!

It certainly sounds too good to be true but it gets better. If at any time after buying and wearing your Dejours do you feel they have given a little or your waist line has decreased, bring them back to get all fixed up for free.

My Picks of the Day

I have managed quite a nice collection of jeans over the last few months and I wear them religiously and with love. They look brand new after a wash and are comfy after a few wears.I truly believe my days of denim disasters are over!

Now to find my swimwear genie.

I absolutely agree. There never seems to be a perfect pair for me because I am in between sizes. Thanks
