This week, the largest ever display of works by Edgar Degas, one of the world's most celebrated and significant artists, has premiered in Melbourne. Degas: A New Vision has opened in NGV on 24 April, another gem in the 'Melbourne Winter Masterpieces' series.

The exhibition offers over 200 works, many of them never seen in Australia before. Paintings, drawings, sculptures and even photos by Degas travelled to Melbourne from 65 lenders in over 40 countries. The exhibition will be here till 18 September and NGV has a fantastic mix of events complementing the celebration of Degas art. Here are 15 ideas of how to enjoy Degas: A New Vision this cold Melbourne winter.

13. See a film. 'The Red Shoes' and 'Midnight in Paris' will be shown for free.

14. Listen to the orchestra playing music from the period of Degas in the great hall. You won't even need to buy a ticket for this one.
