Does Canberra ever get it right?
You Can Help the Environment
It seems the Gillard government has made few popular decisions, even from the viewpoint of Labour supporters. And one recent proposal has outraged environmentalists around the country.
Legislation is being drafter which will threaten many places that are currently protected from mining or other development, and a group of more than thirty organisations from around Australia is campaigning to raise public awareness of the issue.
The free forum will be held Conservation Council of SA, Level 1, 157 Franklin Street, Adelaide on Wednesday 31 October from 12.30 – 2.00 pm.
The Places You Love campaign aims to educate the public about the dangers that this legislation will pose to our fragile environment. It has been established to motivate and inspire the community to let the Federal and State Governments know that people care about environmental laws.
You are invited to hear more about what is proposed and how you can be involved in the campaign. If you can't attend, please consider liking the Facebook page and bringing this issue out into the open through other social media.
