An invitation to open your ears to the natural world
Take a guided walk on the wild side with acoustic ecologist,
Andrew Skeoch, at the
Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary to experience deep listening to nature through a sensitive, auditory perception of the surrounding environment. Walking slowly and in silence, to calm usually over-active minds, walkers will experience an immersion into the wetlands’ sound world.

Be guided by Andrew into hearing the languages of nature - developing your auditory awareness, identifying species by ear, recognising behaviours and repertoire, and finding empathy with the voices of other beings. Deeper listening allows participants to hear the integrity of whole ecosystems, revealing what the communications of the biosphere tell us about how nature functions to achieve sustainability.
The Nature Walk will conclude with a presentation session from Andrew Skeoch to assist participants with how to interpret what is heard - identifying species by call, discussing vocal behaviours and why creatures use the sounds they do.
