It may not be as old nor as big and historical as many of our other dams around New South Wales, but the beauty is nonetheless outstanding.
Deep Creek Dam is situated in Mogo in the Eurobodalla vicinity. It was completed in 1983 and holds around 4500 million litres- this dam is worth the visit if you are passing by or staying around the area.

It may not even be on your 'must see' list, but I can assure you it will be after you read some of these interesting facts below, which make you want to see it for yourself.
In summer the Deep Creek Dam has an aeration system due to the lesser extent in winter, therefore the dam is separated into an upper and lower layer due to the season.

The upper layer is warmer and higher in oxygen levels than the colder, lower layer that is deficient in oxygen.
Deep Creek Dam supplies clean water during flood conditions and the spillway is rarely operated – it is only operated when the dam is near full and heavy rains occur.
And finally, the dam was completed in 1983, making it somewhat of a newbie!

The surrounding bushland...
Situated in such a quiet tranquil region of Mogo, being surrounded with lush bushland and views of the mountains as a backdrop; it makes the perfect "pit stop" or a "must visit" on an itinerary.
There is also a leisurely walk through the breathtaking bushland, which is also suitable for bicycles.
Do however, be careful here at the dam and on the walk / cycle path as snakes have been witnessed a few times, especially during the warmer seasons.

There are no bathroom or picnic facilities, however there is plenty of room to park the car and walk around to see the dam from different perspectives.
