Heading in to Brisbane's south eastern suburbs is always a joy for us - we're coffee snobs and you lucky people just have SO many good cafes to chose from! Unfortunately, you can only try one at time however and this morning we went for at Holland Park. Located on Logan Road this place is definitely all about the breakfasts and if you're wanting to check it out I would highly recommend booking because they are super popular

So the question on everyone's lips is no doubt does this popularity ensure you of an excellent dining experience? My answer, its pretty good. We admittedly don't go out for breakfast a whole lot but when you line it up against some of the more iconic and well established eateries in the area it hasn't quite reached the fabled cult status - yet. But that's definitely not to say I don't see them heading in the right direction.

As I mentioned this place is a breakkie lovers heaven. They have two pages of options to chose from and I think that most tastes would be fairly well satisfied. It would be perhaps nice to see a few more vegetarian and bread free inclusions on the menu. We had a table of six so I got to see a few of their offerings for the day and, presentation wise, everything definitely looked more than good enough to eat. I personally went for the "Stacks On" which consisted of avocado, poached eggs, haloumi, cherry tomatoes and bacon stacked on toasted turkish.

It was very tasty with the eggs cooked perfectly, the bacon not too greasy, and the portion size generous. My only complaint lay with the haloumi. A few people at my table ordered meals with haloumi and everyone said the same - unfortunately overcooked to the point of being unpleasantly rubbery. Other than that however, well above average. My other half went for the Breakky Burger. Conveniently for him he doesn't like haloumi at the best of times so, as he ordered his sans cheesy goodness, he was quite happily fed.

The most important element for a cafe is definitely there. The coffee is good. Deedot utilises boutique roaster Uncle Joe's beans and its a slightly unusual flavoured roast but it definitely works. Deedot also offers cold pressed juices and an array of sweets and smoothies that would tackle any sugar craving head on.

The staff are lovely and seem to have a good handle on busy trade. We didn't wait too long for food and everyone's order was as requested which is a lot more than I can say for many other establishments.

Deedot also seems to have acquired a rather pleasant atmosphere. Located right on busy Logan Road, I almost expected it to be the noisy alfresco that makes you wonder why they bothered. Quite the contrary the cafe has a relaxed vibe and, with its grass and white picket fence, you could almost be mistaken for thinking you were sitting in a friends backyard.

So all in all Deedot seems to me to be an up and comer on the cafe scene of South East Brisbane. Its in a great central area and, if they keep doing what they seem to be doing well, I'm sure their client base will continue to grow. A few tweaks here and there will no doubt have them up there with the likes of the Rare Pear and the Rabbit Hole in no time at all. And at the end of the day the locals obviously love it so they are obviously doing more than a few things right - definitely worth a try for your next leisurely weekend breakfast or brunch!
