With winter approaching, it is time for the summer gear to make way for the winter gear. It is also a good way to declutter the kids wardrobe.
To motivate the kids to cull, I offer them $5.00 per laundry basket of clothes that no longer fit or they no longer wear. They love this challenge and sometimes are a bit over zealous and cull items worthy of another season or two. We then sort the clothes into big garbage bags for the op shop and the bin.
This idea can be extended to any big clean up. If the budget is lean, even a dollar a basket is a good incentive. It becomes a bit of a competition of who discards the most and I think the kids appreciate being in control of their own stuff.
So a fun way to get the kids organised and for them to earn the money you probably would have spent on them anyway.
