I am a natural movement & outdoor enthusiast who is always on the lookout for ways to incorporate physical activity into my life. My perfect day would combine outdoor movement, great food & convivial company.

If you like IKEA, sports or outdoors, you'll love Decathlon
I came across Decathlon one evening while trawling the internet, desperately for a rain jacket for my 2-year-old. The next day, we were to set off on a holiday to a town with rain forecast for the next 5 days, and I had visited all the usual suspects - Target, Kmart, BigW - with no success. I stumbled across the site for Decathlon, a sporting goods store in Tempe, which was open from 7am till 11pm, 7 days a week. What kind of store would be open those hours, on a Sunday, I wondered.
Need some equestrian gear for a 4-year-old, a wetsuit for a 2-year-old or bike gloves for a 6-year-old? No problem, you'll find these and more. Decathlon is to sporting goods what IKEA is to furniture and Uniqlo for clothes. Entirely own-brand merchandise, it sells incredibly reasonably priced and reasonable quality to match, with different ranges according to your price point.
Decathlon is located directly opposite IKEA, Tempe and they share an entrance and connected car park.
There are sales racks dotted throughout the large store, which is divided into departments according to the sport. Departments include tents and camping equipment, ball sports, hiking, camouflage gear, equestrian, yoga/pilates, gymnastics, bikes, golf, weights, skiing, swimming and more.
Trying their equipment before you buy is strongly encouraged, with an area to play ball and an indoor cycling circuit.
Outside on weekends, they often have sausage sizzles held by various organisations, plus a big trampoline and courts to occupy the kids while you enjoy lunch and another plus - being close to the airport, it's a great vantage point for planespotting.
I did indeed pick up a perfect rain jacket for my toddler and also scored some inexpensive shoes for him and work pants, which were a bargain.
