Relax and enjoy
Live in the South and looking for somewhere casual and inexpensive to go on a Friday night?
Then head down to McLaren Vale, where the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Visitor Information Centre, in conjunction with 90 Mile Wines and Fonthill Wines, is presenting an evening of fine wines, beer and food, with some great music thrown in!
And yes, it is free entry! Wines and boutique beers are available to purchase by the glass or bottle, as are more substantial meals, but nibbles are provided for patrons to share while chatting or enjoying the live music. Decant started as a friendly monthly get-together for locals after work and has proven so popular that it is now occurring weekly, with visitors as well as locals enjoying a relaxing wind-down while savouring the region's finest offerings.
And this is not your average boring Visitor Centre, but a modern rammed earth venue, with a vineyard, shop and art gallery, able to host day or evening functions. The well maintained grounds are a credit to the volunteer gardeners and in the summer they have already hosted many weddings, parties and even music festivals (Gorgeous Festival started here before outgrowing it and moving on). Sitting on the veranda with a glass of red and a view over the gardens and vineyards, listening to some laid-back acoustic sounds in the company of friends – what could be finer?
