Talented and award-winning Brisbane-based artist Debbie Parker is excited to be one of the first artists to exhibit in the ALL NEW Latrobe Artspace (formally Percolator Gallery) this Spring!
This stunning exhibition opens on Tuesday 6th October and features paintings inspired by Debbie's leisurely walks in Mount Coot-Tha National Park, including the rainforest garden.
Debbie never gets tired of developing new ideas from the snapshots she takes of the local area and the result is an exquisite collection of expressive paintings celebrating our unique Australian landscape and local birds and blossoms.
Each painting offers a different way of looking at familiar Australian icons; Debbie's movement of the hand, making quick, gestural marks, with a brush or drawing implement, creates representational forms, exploring movement and light in nature, and through minimal detail, she brings the focussed subject into view, against an almost abstract ground.
With over 25 years of experience as an artist, Debbie developed her expressionist style at the Canberra Institute of Art in the early 1990s. Since then, she has competed and exhibited in Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra and Southeast Queensland.
She has also completed focussed workshops with well-known artists in Queensland, including some Archibald Prize notables.
Debbie's work had been recognised in National and local competitions and her work is increasing in popularity each year being held in many private collections. She has won many prizes but her favourite category is "Peoples' Choice" which has received several times now.
Usually, Debbie would have been exhibiting in competitions around Australia throughout this year but COVID 19 has set new challenges for artists, as well as the charities and Not for Profit Associations, like schools, that artists support by exhibiting their work.
Nevertheless, Debbie is looking ahead and can't wait to meet you at her latest solo exhibition! She will be onsite from 6th to 11th October 2020: Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 3pm at the ALL NEW Latrobe Artspace (formerly Percolator Gallery) 134 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064, now part of the Lethbridge Gallery.
As we spend more time in our homes, consider purchasing a unique, affordable piece of art and support our phenomenal Brisbane artist community. Debbie's loose gestural rendering of movement and light on Australian forms is sure to remain a talking point in your home for many years to come!
If you can't wait till October, you can see Debbie's work at Makersville, 1/144 Main Street, Montville and David Linton Furniture and Woodwork, 14 Maple Street, Maleny.
