Deathtrap is the much-lauded 1978 play by American novelist, playwright, and songwriter Ira Levin, author of A Kiss Before Dying (1953), Rosemary's Baby (1967), The Stepford Wives (1972), and The Boys from Brazil (1976).Deathtrap holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway and was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play in 1978. Today Deathtrap is widely considered to be one of the best stage thrillers of all time and this September, King Street Theatre is presenting a strictly limited season of the all-time classic play.

Directed by Debbie Smith, Deathtrap centres on playwright Sidney Bruhl, who knows all about murder having written a few successful murder mysteries on Broadway. However, his murderous muse has deserted him and his last play flopped. Desperate for another success, he contemplates murder for real.He receives a script from a former student, Clifford Anderson, and is instantly consumed with jealousy as he realises it is the perfect thriller and would be a sure-fire hit on Broadway. He must have it. He invites Clifford over on the pretence of giving it the Bruhl polish.
