This January, Deanne Calisthenics Club invites ages 3 and up to adult age to discover the exciting and graceful world of calisthenics.
Unique to Australia, calisthenics is suitable for all abilities and enhances skills in teamwork, dance, performance, music appreciation, flexibility and strength.
Calisthenics seamlessly blends sports and performing arts, with routines featuring controlled exercises, gymnastics, marching, singing, simplified ballet, folk and modern dance.
This is a great way to stay fit and active, develop one's self-esteem and confidence, and also make new like-minded friends in a fun, encouraging atmosphere.
Classes are held weekly within school terms and participants practice choreographed routines in preparation for competitions and concerts during the year. On stage, participants wear stunning sequinned costumes, complemented with styled hair and make-up.
Deanne was founded in 1975 and is one of six clubs in Canberra. This January, Deanne is hosting FREE Come and Try Days on Thursday, 23 and 30 January, between 4:30 to 5:30 pm, at St John Vianney's School in Waramanga ACT.
