Tucked away in the quaint neighbourhood of Surry Hill, Dead Ringer awaits as a hidden gem of a dining destination.
This intimate restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, beckoning diners to step inside and indulge in its culinary delights. Perfect for a date night!
In the frenzy of trying to secure the perfect Valentine's Day plans, my partner and I scoured through endless options until we stumbled upon Dead Ringer - it's gleaming
4.5-star rating on Google caught our attention.
What's on the menu?
One dish that particularly stood out amidst the exquisite four-course menu was the expertly prepared
cured kingfish. What set it apart was the chef's skilled ability to accentuate the natural flavours of the fish, without resorting to the heavy-handed use of citrus dressings that is often overdone in other places.

Next up;
The L'Orange Duck! I was mentally preparing myself as I'd never tried duck before. I had nothing to be scared of - it was juicy, flavourful and fell off the bone. Dead Ringer changes their set menus quite regularly, so the main dish will possibly be something different.
While many dishes were impressive, one item that unfortunately fell short was the cucumber and salmon roe dish. The odd temperature it was served proved to be quite off-putting, ultimately detracting from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Personally, I found it tasted super similar to salty ocean water but in an intriguing way.

Being someone who has an undeniable sweet tooth, I was on a mission to find a drink that could satisfy my sugar cravings. Luckily, the manager was on top of their game and knew exactly what I needed. They suggested a sweet mojito mocktail, which was just the ticket for cleansing my palate and boosting my energy. It hit all the right spots and left me feeling refreshed and revitalised.
Final Thoughts
Good news! There's no need to stress about finding parking as it's easily accessible. However, it's best to steer clear of booking during peak traffic times. Unless you want to spend your precious time endlessly driving around the backstreets of Surry Hills.
From the moment you walk in the door, you'll be greeted with warmth and hospitality that will make you feel right at home. Looking to impress your date with a trendy and inviting spot? Look no further than Dead Ringer! With its stylish decor and cozy ambience, it's the perfect place to create a romantic atmosphere and make a lasting impression. With a selection of intriguing and inventive offerings, you're sure to find something that will tickle your fancy. While the food is undeniably delicious and made with high-quality ingredients, the cost of $85 per person may give some diners pause. This place is not wheelchair accessible as there are stairs onto the outdoor terrace and into the restaurant.
