It's Monday morning and you're rushing to the train station in an effort to get there early before the queues start to build up as rush hour hits. Then, a delicious scent of grounded coffee beans brushes past your nose as you cross the lights and head into the station entrance... Hang on, there's actually a small café right next to Burwood Station!

De Lux Patisserie, as it name suggests, is a small bakery literally located right next to Burwood Station. It's specialties range from a wide variety of beautifully decorated cakes and sweets to banana breads (what good café doesn't have banana bread?) to shakes and of course, good coffee! Having just opened earlier this year, this little known café has since made a name for itself, well at least in my eyes. After my initial discovery of it, I have never once walked past it without at least having a glimpse inside at the enticing sweets that are ever so tempting.

The location I must say is definitely a plus as often I would see commuters dropping in to grab a quick coffee and a cake or passer-bys sitting down at the stools to have a quick drink over a chat. The patisserie itself occupies a small space though it does give that cosy ambience that many café-style patisseries lack. It's walls are decorated, atmosphere lively and despite its size, you don't feel like the staff are invading your privacy at all. Usually there is just one lady who serves.

Having arrived early to the station one day, I decided to enter this little space of sweetness and to gauge for myself whether the food actually tasted as good as it looked. Boy was I in for a sugar fix!

Some really cute mini cakes. They're so cute I don't want to eat them!

If you ever happen to be in Burwood, I really recommend dropping in to this patisserie, if not just to admire the amount of art and effort that goes into decorating all these mini treats.

I do love their lemon meringue tart. For $3.50 one gets a large tart filled with sweet, oozing lemon curd on deliciously golden pastry topped with a soft, fluffy meringue that has been blow-torched to give a crispy texture.

So what are you waiting for? Stop drooling and start planning your next outing to Burwood!
