Having grown up in Daylesford, I've always been aware of its thriving artistic community. Every weekend is a showcase of local musicians. From rock, pop and country to soul and and swing, there's bound to be something you will enjoy.
In recent years the community have rallied together to create the Daylesford Folk and Blues Festival. Still relatively new, this event was designed to help both locals and visitors shake off the winter blues with some quality music.

This year's festival takes places on October 12th - with live music, workshops and instrument making displays all packed into the one day.
From 10:30 am to 1:00pm, local musician Geoffrey Williams will be performing at the Rex Theatre in the main street. Geoffrey is an iconic member of Daylesford's music community, and runs the local soul choir who will be performing as well.

At 1:00pm the scene moves over the road to the town hall, where musicians will be performing until 10:00pm. This year's line-up is of the highest quality, including performers such as
Liz Frencham, Tom Bolton and
Fat Chance.
If you grow weary of the town hall and head out to roam the town, buskers will be performing around the main street from 11:00am to 4:00pm. There will also be instrument making demonstrations in the senior citizen's centre behind the town hall. If you're a musician yourself, or always wanted to be, be sure to take part in the many workshops held around town.
Full day tickets can be purchased
here for $35.00 and half day tickets for $20.00. But don't stress if you miss out on these early birds, as tickets can be purchased on the door for an extra $5.00.
The Daylesford Spring Folk and Blues Festival is run by Acoustic Sessions - a not for profit organisation helping to fund local events and charities.
All money made from the festival will be donated to local causes such as the Daylesford State Emergency Service and the Hepburn Wildlife Shelter. The Daylesford Spring Folk and Blues Festival prides itself on promoting the work of local and upcoming artists and musicians. To check out the full program see their
