Enjoy a pre-Christmas celebration with a day trip to the popular Macedon Ranges & Spa Country Region, travelling onboard a special diesel hauled heritage train.
The Daylesford Day Out will take place on Saturday 20th of December, 2014 and will depart Southern Cross Station, Melbourne at 12.15 pm and head to Kyneton. This journey will take guests through the rapidly expanding Melbourne suburbs north to Sunbury and through the great dividing range, with its steep gradients and on to Kyneton.
From here, coaches will take guests to the Daylesford Spa Country Railway terminus of Bullarto.
At Bullarto, guests will join a charter branch line train comprising a 1928 vintage rail motor, better known as DERMs, No 63 RM and 1972 vintage Tulloch DRC railcar number 40, and head towards the popular day trip destination of Daylesford.
Whilst in Daylesford, guests can discover the region's many cafes and restaurants, including the famous Farmers Arms Hotel, with several ales on tap. There are also many art galleries, bookshops and providers of locally produced wines, cheeses and organic produce to explore.
Guests will then re-join the rail motor combination back to Bullarto, where the coaches will return to Kyneton for the return mainline train back to Melbourne.
The restored heritage train comprises of art deco style carriages, with an on board Cafe Hudson serving an assortment of freshly brewed coffees, as well as teas, cakes, soft drinks and light snacks. A fully licensed bar service will also be in full swing in the lounge car "708" with beers, ciders, wines and spirits all on sale.
