Sun 25 May 2014

Head to Dayboro for the day on Sunday 25 May for the magnificent Dayboro Day Festival and Antique & Collectables Fair.

The beautiful country town comes alive at the festival every year attracting more than 20,000 visitors. It's no wonder the festival keeps getting bigger and better each year.

From 8am to 3.30pm, festivities for the 23rd festival will be at full throttle with helicopter rides, the waterless raft race, the pineapple pie eating competition, the street parade, a combined church service and so much more.

From 9am, market stalls featuring a huge range of goodies will be open. Make sure you bring your wallet because there will be plenty of crafts, homemade jams, lollies and cakes, and books for you to browse. Lots of food stalls filled with scrumptious eats will satisfy your stomach. Plus, local shops like The Dayboro Bakery, The Dayboro Cafe, Terahs Restaurant, Swish, and Dayboro Deli & Country Kitchen will also be featured at the Festival. Be sure to come with an empty stomach!

There will be some new additions to the 2014 festival including 'Rapt in Reptiles' display presented by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and insightful sessions throughout the day about weeds, seed collecting and propagation by Donna Farrell.

The official opening & awards ceremonies will take place on the stage at around 11am. This is a special event as the mayor, local councillor, state member and federal member present the Dayboro Community Awards.

When you need a break, why not chill out by the stage and enjoy some amazing entertainment? The stellar line-up for this year include Juzzie Smith, Black Heather, The Twine, Screamin Steven & the Heathens, Redcliffe Scottish Pipe Band and heaps of others. What's more, don't forget to check out local artists Sharryn Bell, Anthony Polson, Sinead Healy, Samantha Fox-Hegarty and Jacob Fox.

And be sure to pop by the Dayboro Showground for the Dayboro Antique & Collectables Fair from 8.30am to 3pm. You can feast your eyes on a wide variety of quality English, European, Continental and Australian antiques and collectables as well as dolls and toys from a bye gone era. In addition, there will be a lucky door prize and silent auction for participants. There is definitely something for everyone here.

So mark your calendars and see you on the day!
