The secret is well and truly out! The beautiful Scenic Rim, just over one hour from Brisbane, has become a favourite destination with day trippers and those wanting to escape the city for a relaxing break in the country.

This month the Darlington State School, situated in the Lost World Valley and at the heart of the Scenic Rim, will be hosting the . A big title? That's because it will be a big event!

The markets will be showcasing home grown, home made, hand made, local, organic and fair trade goods and produce from the Scenic Rim region. This area is rapidly gaining a reputation as a mecca of food and art in South East Queensland. Don't miss a chance to find unique and original items from this region. For the first time, the market will include food stalls with the local Wild Lime Cooking School serving amazing curries - this cooking school knows how to cook up a storm, so get in early - don't miss out! Tommerup's Dairy Farm and Farm Stay will also be busy in the kitchen, producing breakfasts and lunches using their own local produce and meat. Country baked goods and pumpkin soup from the Vintage Cafe and coffee from Cup-A-Licious will also be available.

In another first, this year's market will include a Country Family Fun Day with free billy tea and damper and a whip cracking display. Face painting, old fashioned country games and side show activities are sure to be a hit with big kids and little kids alike!

The highly anticipated Australian Bush Buddies will also be making an appearance, providing an opportunity for visitors to get up close and personal to a python, crocodile, possum and other Aussie Buddies. Make sure you call in and say hello to Louise and her scaley and furry friends!

All this and live entertainment as well! If you needed an excuse to visit this picturesque part of the world, here it is. This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful country areas in South East Queensland so rug up (yes, it is a bit chilly!), head for the Lost World Valley and enjoy a morning full of family fun and country charm. You may want to consider extending your stay a little longer - there are many beautiful accommodation options in the Scenic Rim so why not delay returning to the "real world" for a little longer? Oh and don't forget your camera!
