Day trip by ferry and movie at New Hoyts Docklands

If you are holidaying near Portarlington or live in Geelong and environs, here is a great value day out. You catch the 11.15am service from Portarlington and take a scenic journey across the bay to Docklands, taking in the sweeping shoreline and gentle ocean breezes.

You'll be met at tram stop D4 and escorted down to The District Docklands.

There you will enjoy a private screening at Australia's newest HOYTS an 8 screen cinema complex entertainment opened in October 2018.

The screening will be of the eagerly anticipated Mary Queen of Scots at 2 pm. This film explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart. Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry.

Instead, she returns to native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. While most of us know the ending to her claim the film shows all the betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies of these perilous times.

Please note this is an aged 15 plus movie.

The new $45 million dollar Hoyts complex also includes Archie Brothers Electric Circus.
Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq Melbourne, a one-stop entertainment destination at Melbourne Docklands' It has six bowling lanes, 67 arcade and ticket games, an XD Theatre and dodgems, plus a full-service cocktail bar, gourmet kitchen.

Or you can visit Melbourne's latest urban brewery - Urban Alley Brewery with its funky architecture and precious still. The Urban core range includes Urban Alley Brewery's signature Urban Ale (4.5%), Urban Lager with one malt and one hop (4.7%), Urban Dark (a creamy classic English Nut Brown Ale 5.4%) and Urban APA a hard-hitting aromatic malty American Pale Ale (5.5%).

There will be free time to do these additional activities or explore the shopping in the area before the ferry takes you back home at 5.30pm.
