Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico. It's a time when family and friends gather to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. As death is viewed as a natural part of life, Mexicans view this holiday not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration. In 2008, the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
At Cactus Country, Day of the Dead will be celebrated on Saturday 26 October 2019 amongst 12 acres of amazing cactus gardens.
The Cactus Country garden will be open from 9:00am – 9:00pm, with the Day of the Dead festivities kicking off from 6:00pm. Enjoy a guided garden tour during the day or maybe take a self-guided night tour by torchlight. With over 4,000 species of cacti and succulents from around the globe, take a wander through the eight different garden trails and be amazed. Plants are available for sale and you'll receive 10% off any purchases.
From 6:00pm, Mexican inspired food, including delicious dessert will be served throughout the evening and you'll receive a free cocktail on arrival. After that, drinks are at bar prices. Tequila anyone? Or maybe a refreshing cerveza?
There will be live music and entertainment with Los Romanticos playing in the evening. Follow the event on their Facebook page to get up to the minute details on all that is planned.
