Step Back to Regency Times
Last year Dance Kaleidoscope presented a Day of Dance and Delight at the Zamia Hall on Tamborine. Such was its success that the group have been asked to reprise the event.
October 11th 2014 is the day.
Once you enter the hall (gold coin donation) you will find yourself transported back to the days of Jane Austen. During the afternoon you will be able to view old crafts such as lace making, play children's games, join in a singalong and try traditional crafts such as using a wash board and sketching. You will also be able to play cards.
Some crafts will cost $5 for materials. These include making a tussy mussy, painting a fan, making a tassle to attach to a reticule or tying a turban.
The Zamia Theatre Group will provide drinks and snacks at their cafe inside the Hall. There are a number of cafes nearby where you can buy lunch or dinner.
Ladies carried fragrant Tussie Mussies to cover unpleasant odours
In the evening a Regency Ball will be held. Dress is costume or formal. All dances will be walked through and called on the night and will be easy enough for beginners. There will also be classes in the weeks beforehand. If you have no partner, don't worry. Gentlemen are discouraged from dancing with the same partner all night and so share themselves around.
Ball Tickets must be booked in advance - details from email@example.com. Adults: $30 each or $50 couple
Concession: $25 each or $30 couple Children: $10 each
