Dedicated in 2010, a sculpture sits permanently in Jarrett Memorial Gardens at Renmark to recognise the significance of David Ruston's contribution to floriculture. David was well-known worldwide for his development of roses and had received multiple prestigious rose awards throughout his life including the Dean Hole Medal from the Royal National Rose Society. He also received an Order of Australia for Services to Horticulture in 1984.
The sculpture depicts David surrounded by and engulfed in beautiful flowers. His typical pose with an upside down secateurs has been reflected excellently in this bronze figure. Consisting of two panels, the front panel represents cultivation and the cycle of life from growth to renewal while the rear panel focuses on his unique style of flower arrangements.
