Legendary concert pianist David Helfgott OAM is performing a special live concert at Canberra Theatre Centre for one night only on Thursday, 16 December 2021. Tickets are now on sale for this unmissable live music event.
Through his extraordinary 7 decade career, David Helfgott has achieved worldwide recognition for his remarkable technique and interpretative genius. His recitals transcend mere music-making and affirm the tenacity of the human spirit.
David has performed in some of the world's greatest concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall, The Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall.
The upcoming Canberra concert event coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Academy Award winning film Shine, which celebrated David's remarkable and inspiring life.
David Helfgott was recently awarded an Order of Australia medal in the Australia Day awards this year for his service to the performing arts as a concert pianist.
As well as performing from their home in Bellingen, David and his wife Gillian are involved with several local musical groups as patrons, providing support and guidance particularly for young performers.
They are also patrons of The Buttery, a not-for-profit, charitable, community-based organisation located in the Byron Bay Hinterland, which specialises in the treatment of alcohol and other drug misuse and mental health issues as well as problem gambling.
Don't miss out on witnessing the incredible talent of David Helfgott in an intimate 'up close and personal' event celebrating the 25th anniversary of "Shine".
