Excite your imagination in two unique art exhibitions
On Friday 30th August at 6pm, two new Art Exhibitions will open at the Art & Design Precinct at 10 Bailey Street, West End, offering visitors the opportunity to view life through the eyes of two Brisbane artists, Dave Newman and OmiLee.
Dave's exhibition, Wood, Water and Stone: Hidden Worlds will exhibit more than twenty works completed during 2012 and 2013 in the Main Gallery. Featured, are works created on both paper and wood, as well exhibits which feature 3D cut-out pieces. This is Dave's first solo showing, after being a participant in a number of successful group exhibits. He has previously created works for the Leukaemia Foundation and has been a finalist in the Arc Yinnar Drawing Prize and the Border Art Prize. He is a Queensland artist and teacher.
OmiLee is a self taught artist who has a Textile and Design background. Her works are generally acrylic on canvas, board or paper with accents of less common mediums such as renders, lacquers, car enamels, suedes and recycled house paints. Her inspiration is found in life, media and the environment and her works lean towards abstraction, having a stripped back minimalist feel. She will show more than twenty works in her solo exhibition, entitled Beauty and the Beast, which will be housed in the Loading Bay Gallery.
Tickets for the two exhibitions cost $10 on opening night and include complimentary drinks and nibbles. There will also be live music from Raising Ruins and The Js. Proceeds from the event bar will go to HeartKids Queensland. Both exhibitions run from 30 August until 4 September, from 10am until 6pm on weekdays and 5pm on Weekends. They are closed on Monday 2nd September.
