We all want to spoil our romantic interest, but sometimes dining out at expensive restaurants and buying expensive jewellery is not always feasible on a students' budget. Here are four fun activities that are affordable that may get you some loving.

1. Take her to the Southbank Cinemas

For only $6.50 concession, you can enjoy going to the pictures at the Southbank Cinemas for half the price. They screen the same top movies as other cinemas and are conveniently located close to public transport. Sneak in a two dollar packet of lollies from the supermarket and a Slurpee from 7/11 rather than buying food and drinks from the cinemas. You will be guaranteed to have an extra cheap, sugary and exciting date. Session times here

2. Have a Romantic Picnic

There is nothing more romantic than a traditional picnic in the park annd lucky for you guys, this can be extremely cheap yet delicious.

Firstly, collect some nibbles from the supermarket. A punnet of strawberries and Nutella may work well. The confectionary and bakery sections always have something on special. If you want to be extra romantic, add in a bottle of champagne, but keep in mind that there is a strong difference in taste and class between Moet and Passion Pop. Don't forget to pinch a couple of serviettes from home!

There are many beautiful places you could go for this picnic, such as the Brisbane Botanical Gardens, the lakes at the University of Queensland or Roma St Parklands. If you do not own a picnic rug, find a park bench.

3. Free Taste-Testing

Every ice-cream shop I have been to will let you try some of their flavours on a stick upon request. Although this is not much, by the time you have been to every ice-cream shop around the city and Southbank, you will have enjoyed quite a variety. Some places may be quite generous with their servings as well.

On the way, go to bakeries as well, as they will often leave samples of food on the counter. This will lead to plenty of excitement and laughs, especially when you leave without buying anything.

4. Make Use of Your Coupons

There are many coupons distributed that go untouched, however they can save us a fair amount of money. For example, I went to Grill'd Wintergarden for lunch the other day with a friend and we each received two 'buy one burger, get one free' vouchers. The next time I am dining at Grill'd, I will definitely make use of these vouchers; instead of spending $25 on two yummy burgers, I will only spend $12.50.

You can receive these coupons in store, in the mail, or through certain memberships so make sure take a look through them.
