Celebrating 40 years, Darwin Festival will be returning this August with an impressive line-up of events to suit all ages and interests.



There will be the very best in local and international curated cultural events and talent with a program featuring cabaret, theatre, comedy, dance, visual arts, words, ideas, music, and family-friendly entertainment.



Some of the entertainment will include:

  • Blanc de Blanc- with the 2017s sell-out success, these masterminds will be returning back with a brand-new show featuring a glitzy glamorous party of Gatsby-esque proportions.



  • From aerial acrobatics to captivating cabaret and burlesque.
  • Legs on the Wall will present Man with the Iron Neck which will feature a stirring piece of theatre that will seamlessly interweave extraordinary aerial and physical skills with evocative visuals and beautifully written narrative to tell a daring and delicate story of survival.



  • Experience an exotic circus show when Cambodia's premier troupe Phare Circus presents their award-winning Eclipse. This performance will be based on traditional Cambodian folktales and will feature a mix of theatre, classical Cambodian Apsara dance and thrilling acrobatics.



  • The family-friendly Air Race will be an action-packed adventure featuring live music.

  • Laugh-out-loud with ABC's Hard Chat and Hard Quiz Tom Gleeson as he will be presenting a gut-busting night of stand-up comedy.



  • The music program will feature the enigmatic Mojo Juju who will be presenting a show with a powerful mix of personal and political, Opera Australia will be back in Darwin to transport you to the exotic sights and sounds of Japan with Puccini's famous opera Madama Butterfly and Darwin Symphony Orchestra will be getting festive for their 30th Anniversary Gala. The Gala will include a program of three very different compositions.

  • Another 30th anniversary will be happening at the Festival; Bangarra Dance Theatre. They will be presenting Bangarra: 30 years of sixty five thousand, a diverse program of three contemporary works each showcasing Bangarra's trademark passionate storytelling, rich artistry and deep community connections.



  • The much-loved Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair will return to the Festival and will be celebrating 13 years with art from more than 70 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community art centres and will showcase traditional dance, workshops, films, music and the Fair's Fashion Show From Country to Couture.



  • Melbourne's fashion label Gorman will be collaborating with Mangkaja Arts Collection to showcase 40 looks featuring the artworks from Fitzroy Crossing in Western Australia.
