Hop on board and get to the see the sights of Darwin in one easy flexible tour.
The Big Bus Darwin Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus Tour lives up to its name when you hop on the red bus and relax and enjoy the views from the top deck. There's an informative commentary with some humour thrown in.
It really gives an insight into the history of this growing and cosmopolitan city and illustrates the terrible destruction from the WW II bombing and that of Cyclone Tracey in 1974.
The bus runs daily from near the Visitor Information Centre in the Darwin CBD. You simply hop on and off within a 24 or 48 hour period. There are two interconnecting routes with an option to go to the lovely East Point recreational area of Darwin with its great views of Fannie Bay and Darwin city.
There are 12 stops throughout the main city and beyond and it is handy for a visit to everything from the Crocosaurus Cove to the WWII history at the Military Museum.
I used it for the first visit to Darwin and got to experience over a few hours in the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) and Parap Market with its eclectic mix of stalls and community vibe.
The tour takes you to the Darwin Waterfront with its mix of attractions, restaurants, lagoon and a great place to walk around and get the leisure time vibe of this tropical city.
The Big Bus runs throughout the year with variations in the Wet Season from October to April. Check the
website for full details.
