In these uncertain times filled with unprecedented events, it's no surprise that the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair has made the important decision to take the The Fair Online . Though devastated not to be holding a physical Fair that brings our national community together, an online platform ensures the community, the artists, Art Centres, partners and visitors are protected from the rapidly changing pandemic situation.

The dates have been extended and now the Fair will be open to the public from 10am ACST from 6-11 August 2021 5pm ACST. Be sure to register for early access. This gives you priority access to the digital Art Fair before it opens to the general public. If you've already registered for any of the 2021 Fair days via the Fair's Eventbrite page, be assured it has been carried over for the online early access, and you do not need to pre-register again.

The good news to take away from all this is that you can still ethically purchase directly from over 70 Indigenous-owned Art Centres that represent more than 2000 Artists. Be sure to show your support and join the FREE to attend 15th DAAFF in 2021. Straight up - a lot of the events are selling out fast or sold out. For instance, as of this moment Ghost Net Doll making with Anindilyakwa Arts, Groote Eylandt; Watercolours with the Iltja Ntjarra Many Hands Art Centre; Ailan 'One Twist' Weaving with Moa Arts; Coiled Basket Weaving with Injalak Arts; Lino Carving with Bábbarra Women's Centre and Painting with the Artists of Ampilatwatja have already sold out. What's left?

If you hurry you could attend Aboriginal Jewellery Making , Artist Talk: Exhibitions and Projects, with Indigenous Art Centre Alliance and other Artist Talk events like talks on Art and Fashion Projects and Aboriginal Screen-Printed textiles from Australia's Top End to mention a few.

For the lucky ones already in Darwin, there's a volunteer callout from the Darwin network for the National Indigenous Fashion Awards on 3 August and the Country to Couture runway on 4 August at the Darwin Convention Centre. Share the news if you know of other who would be interested.

The Awards night has already sold out but there are still tickets to Country to Couture , which is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander textiles and fashion design. This is a contemporary way of cultural storytelling and sharing knowledge. It's where First Nations textiles and fashion collide in a colourful showcase of wearable art. The event builds on the growing textile design movement in remote Indigenous communities and has been showcased alongside the annual Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) since 2016.
