We came across Darnell's General Store mostly by accident. We had decided to take a more adventurous route to Margaret's River which I believe added at least 3 hours to our total trip. However, we did see things that we probably would not have, had we not taken the Rossa Brook Road.
I think this truck is in need of some repairs...and will not be needing any petrol anytime soon!
A piano seemed to separate the goods from the groceries. I could not help wonder what a piano was doing in the middle of the store. Maybe it was played during the day! It could also be used for piano lesson. It really did give me that "western" feeling! How exciting!
You will find a range of home made crafts in this store.
The staff were friendly. I got the impression that they did not get too many people passing by, which is a shame because it really is a unique experience. However, when you live a great deal from Perth, and outside of Margaret's River I can expect that they would not have the same foot traffic as that inside of a town.
To find Darnell's General Store you will need to head north through Margaret's River and take the Rossa Brook Road.
To find Darnell's General Store you would need to head north of Margaret River and take the Rossa Brook Road. You should see it on the right hand side. Or, if you feel more adventurous, you could take all the back roads from Perth's side. I can't guarantee you will find it as we got horrible lost, and happened to come across this store by sheer luck.
