Just opening a week ago, is Darlinghurst's latest addition to an eclectic montage of stylish bars and restaurants. As the name depicts, it is lavish and inviting, inspired by the old world glamour of LA movie mogul dining.

Two owners from The Lobo Plantation , Eddie Levy and Michael Hwang along with The Island owners Adam Abrams and Julian Tobias have come together and transformed the space.

This new bar restaurant, once inhabited by the Victoria Room has ditched the British Raj theme of dark velvet chairs, victoria antique furnishings and dusty lampshades. In its place, is a fresh modern, LA country club style bar.

Soft tan lounges, sumptuous leather banquettes and cosy table settings invite you to stay. A feeling of warmth and privilege envelopes you once you select your seat.

You can sit to dine or choose an intimate corner of armchairs. The decor is all about comfort.

The installation of call buttons at the lounging booths, provides ease of service and adds to the decadent club feel.

If you prefer a quieter seating area choose the corner lounge area.

On Wednesday nights, you can chill out to live music. DJs feature other nights of the week.

Earlier in the evening we had been to a play at the new KX Theatre. I didn't realise when I entered the bar, that it was now the . I was told by the manager it was their soft opening, leading up to their official opening in a few days time. As we had already had a large meal before the play, we decided to at least try some cocktails. The bar is run by Julius Yates. He has created a cocktail-centric bar list with plenty to choose from. We decided on an Eton Fizz and a Pink Flamingo.

The Eton Fizz was delicious, Gin with strawberry flavours, lemon, fluffy egg white and a delightful hint of thyme. The Pink Flamingo was a thirst quencher with a good dose of Tequila, fresh citrus elements, watermelon and an inchy tinsy bit of spice from Szechuan honey syrup.

If you love a good French Champagne and your Wines, then you won't be disappointed with the selection.

The menu appeared to have a tempting selection of snacks, burgers and mains to choose from. Unfortunately, we had eaten a huge meal before the show, we couldn't fit in more than the cocktails.

I'm already converted to the new Darlo Country club. Looking forward to returning with friends to settle in for a night of cocktails and nibbles. Check it out!
