Take the current trend of handmade, homemade and homegrown, throw in some vintage, recycled and organic for good measure, and you have the Darlington Community Markets. Complete with all the charm of an old fashioned country style fair, these biannual markets are a delightful day of shopping, fun and relaxation for the whole family.
Situated on the beautiful banks of the Albert River in the enchanting Lost World Valley region, the Darlington Community Markets emanate an all-pervasive feeling of peace and tranquility. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the stalls browsing homemade goodies including fudge, cakes, pickles, preserves and chutneys, and handmade knitwear, quilting, clothing, jewellery, soaps and candles.

Leave the kids with the local Artist in Residence for free games and activities, then kick back in the lounge area soaking up the soulful sounds of musician Thor Phillips. The Vintage Cafe will be on hand to serve up homemade winter tempters such as warming soups and stroganoffs, freshly baked hot apple pie, cakes and slices, and freshly brewed hot beverages.
At midday join in the excitement of the Great Scout Duck Race, as ducks race down the Albert River to support the Beaudesert Scout Group. In true community spirit proceeds from these gorgeous markets go to the Darlington State School students.
With the final market for the year approaching on Sunday 21st July, 2013, now is the time to start planning a glorious winter day in the country for the whole family. A mere one and a half hours drive from Brisbane, the trip is worth it for the scenery alone - the unique, country style markets an added bonus!
