Darling Harbour is a fantastic place to spend the school holidays. My little girl and I catch the train to either Central station or Town Hall, and walk from there. If I am being conservative, I will pack our lunch, and still have change from a $10 note at the end of the day. Entertained by performers strolling the green near the kid's playground, my daughter then happily frolics in the water park, making her way to the climbing equipment and flying fox. I may get myself a Macca's coffee if I am feeling frivolous, but what a fantastic day for so little outlay.

I have also splurged whilst at Darling Harbour. We had a very special day there on the eve of her starting kindergarten this year. Family admission to the Chinese Gardens (2 adults and 5 kids), costs $15.00, and is well worth the price of admission. I bring along sketch pads and pencils for the kids to draw what they see. You can also hire beautiful costumes and go for a walk around the gardens. Hire is $5.00 pp. My little girl and I sometimes treat ourselves to a movie at the incredible IMAX theatre . The sound and 3D effects are astounding. Tickets are $20.50 adult and $15 child. I have been so carried away with the atmosphere that I have bought tickets for the little train which travels through Darling Harbour too ($4.50 adult and $3.50 child). We end our train ride near the ferry terminal and hop aboard to Circular Quay. A pleasant ending to a marvellous day.
