The Darkness to Daylight Challenge charity event will see participants running and walking on 29 May 2024. to raise awareness of Domestic Violence and funds to aid DV victims in our community.
An evening event circuit is set up for runners and walkers beginning at Parliament House and continuing through the beautiful inner city City Botanical Gardens, across the Goodwill Bridge and back
This isn't just a 5 km run or a half marathon. Held during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month (held in May each year), participants are encouraged to walk or run as many kilometres as they can (either on their own or in teams).
Each kilometre represents one of the lives lost in Australia on average to domestic violence each year.
The DV Challenge
There is no doubting the extent and far-reaching consequences of domestic violence in Australia. In 2022-23 in Queensland, there were 31,652 applications for a Domestic Violence Offence (DVO) and over 39,000 people were charged with breaching a domestic violence order.
You can participate as a team, family or individual. Register or donate
here . Registration costs are $65.00 per person and each participant receives an 11th-anniversary registration kit that includes a Darkness to Daylight t-shirt and event info pack. If you are not able to participate, you can also donate to the cause through the website.
In its 11th year, help bring domestic violence out of the darkness through the Darkness to Daylight DV Challenge.
