Hot off the press. Daniel San Bar - Restaurant - Venue just opened Saturday 4th October 2014. A new edition to the exotic genre of Japanese Fusion inspired restaurants and bars. Daniel San will clear the decks as the latest greatest place to go on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. If you want a good chow down while enjoying beach-side ambience this is where to go, also a perfect location for a function in their upstairs level and rooftop bar.

With spectacular views over Manly Beach and just a few yards from the sand, Daniel San is a breath of fresh sea air with its cool interior, open spaces, quirky elements of Japanese culture and rock n roll vibes. A large sprawling bar area but filled with funky spaces and interesting corners even equipped with its very own unique Beer Slushy machine imported from Japan.

Situated next to the Manly Novotel and just open a couple of days, you can see in this image below how popular it is.

Created by Arthur Laundy and Bar Baron Fraser Short (formerly of Keystone Group, Manly Wine, The New Watson's Bay Hotel just to name a few) this is just what Manly needs more off. A casual yet trendy place that you can step right off the beach into. Dry off after your swim and stay awhile or all day if you please. Fraser is rumoured to have studied interior design. This is easily believed as you can see he has waved his wand over every aspect of this fabulous venue, down to the finest details noticeable every which way you look.

You can enter through the front Beach View Bar or by the side entrance inside the Manly Novotel and make your way past the Classic Pin Ball machines which is a blast from the past that I'm sure everyone will enjoy.

Executive Chef Benjamin Orpwood (formerly of Toko) has created casual beachside style menus with authentic Japanese fare such as sushi of tuna belly, truffle and yuzu, steamed buns, soft shell crab and kimchi mayo. One cool area is the caravan beach shack styled grill bar. Here the owners have wisely invested in a special Robata Grill which serves a unique endless variety of juicy roasting Japanese skewers straight from over the burning coals, specialties such as Wagyu Beef, Shiso rolled Pork belly and Teriyake Salmon will make your tummy smile. The Chow Down corner is unique where you can gather around, inhale the aromas of mouth watering skewers and watch the talented Chef's at work. The smell itself will fire up your appetite as you enjoy a traditional Sake (fermented rice wine served chilled and sometimes warm), a Signature Cocktail or a nice cold Beer Slushy or Wine.

A sneak peak at the menus and you will see there is something for everyone to enjoy even the kids. Also I love that is so affordable and not over priced keeping a very competitive edge on the local market.

  • There will also be a take away menu available from November onwards so you can take your favourite dishes home to enjoy.

The Beach-side Dojo (meaning meeting place in Japanese) is also the perfect venue for your next event, whether it is 20 people or 200. Ideal for a corporate function, media launch, wedding or a private party just for the sake of it. Two architecturally designed spaces have been created; the Sunshine Dojo and the Side Dojo. Each area is unique in design and can be hired together or separately to suit your function. There are also other cool areas to consider.
