Free activities for budding kid artists at Open Studio 2019
Do you love art and love meeting the artists? Then this is the weekend for you! The Burrinja Gallery is having their annual Open Studios across the leafy green hills of Melbourne, on the 30th and 31st of March, 2019. This is a fabulous way to meet the artists in their own studios and see how they create those awe-inspiring works of art. You get to travel around the beautiful hills of the Dandenongs and go straight to the home galleries of hundreds of famous artists around the area. This is a great event for families and for other artists who want to learn other art techniques. Your imagination is all you need and this wonderful open weekend.
Burrinja Open Studios being held at Sherbrooke Art Gallery
This is a great weekend getaway, with accommodation throughout the hills, especially many local Bed and Breakfasts. You will be surrounded by the green of the hills and some of our most exotic birdlife. If you stop at Sherbrooke Forest Park, you may even be able to feed the rosellas and cockatoos. My kids love this. When they were little, the rosellas were so tame, they would land in their hair.
This is the 16th annual event and this year, the program is bursting with 36 participating studios, including 16 studios participating for the first time, 5 artist collectives and 4 emerging artists. This includes every type of art and craft you can imagine including wool, paint, sculpture, ceramic, mosaic and much more. Many of the items will be for sale.
