Groove your way to fitness
For a fabulous way to exercise without even noticing, you just can't beat a good boogie. And no, I'm not talking about parading around your bedroom with hairbrush microphone in hand, I mean a real heart-pumping, booty shaking, laughter inducing total body workout.
Sure, this might inspire fear in some, but the friendly team at retro inspired Dance Studio 101 ensure that egos are left at the door, and that the focus is purely on fun.
Dance Studio 101, a boutique studio located in Surry Hills, offers a huge range of dance classes, from hip hop to burlesque and back again. Directors Rosano Martinez and Maya Sheridan, both highly experienced dancers and choreographers, run the studio with passion and flair, and their classes are popular with seasoned performers and newbies alike.
Like most dance schools, Dance Studio 101 offers regularly scheduled classes of all styles every week, but where it really comes into its own is with its dynamic workshops and master classes. The studio runs classes where specific routines from videos are learnt (sign up for the next Single Ladies routine – oh boy!), and you can even put in requests for the routines and styles you'd like to cover. They also cater for events like birthday parties and hens' nights, and work closely with groups to ensure they get the most out of their night. Costumes, champagne, and a whole lot of fun are provided in these workshops – a recent burlesque-themed hens' night saw me finding my inner diva complete with feathers and sequins!
