You don’t have to be a car buff or a rev-head to enjoy a show and shine; it’s always a great day out. The 2023 Dalyston Show and Shine, hosted by The Bass Coast Historical Automobile Club, will be no exception. At this family-friendly show, you are likely to see custom cars, hot rods, motorbikes, off-road vehicles and a car boot sale. You never know who’s going to turn up and what wonderful vehicles they will bring to show us. Take your time to wander around; there will be food and drink available.
BE AMAZED AT THE VARIETY OF MAKES AND MODELS ON DISPLAY. Wander past modern cars and those of yesteryear. Marvel at the artistic designs owners used to adorn their pride and joy; dancing flames, coloured ribbons, interesting insignia and more. Look inside vintage cars and be surprised at their Spartan simplicity.
I’m no petrolhead, but I do appreciate the lines of a classy car and have a special liking for vintage and veteran automobiles. I like the clunky yet rounded lines of them, the heavily stylised grills and the hood ornaments crafted like mini statues. There is always plenty to see.
Walk along lines of motorbikes, set out like shiny well-trained sentinels. The hot rods are in a class all of their own. Some have a cartoon-like shape to them as though they might have emerged from the Disney movie, ‘Cars.’ Then there’s the competition cars, shined to such a glare as to occasion a need for sunglasses.
