In the Northern NSW region, there seems to be a massive trend of insanely beautiful waterfalls both hidden and well-known. One which appears to be more of a hidden gem is , inland from Ballina, NSW. I travelled from Byron Bay to find this spot and after a 45 minute drive I was definitely ready for a swim in the heat!



The start of the track for this waterfall is located on Dalwood Road, Dalwood in NSW. Roughly only twenty minutes from Ballina, when on the trip out to the waterfall, you will be surrounded by lush hinterland and farmyard scenery all around. It makes for a great day out and escaping the big coastal towns when they're overrun by people trying to ease the heat with a swim.

The entrance you will see along Dalwood Road is a blockade with signage saying 'Do Not Enter'. This sign is for legal reasons as people have been injured or died at the falls - I would assume from cliff-jumping. The owners of the property still allow people to swim, just remember to read and follow the signs and don't put yourself into any unnecessary danger.



From the blockade on Dalwood Road, it is a very short ten-fifteen minute walk to the base of the falls. You will see the trail bends to your right, follow along and you are able to take the little forks you'll see in the trail that lead to different points. One will lead you to a point along Emu Creek, which gets its water from. Secondly, there is another trail that leads you to stand at the top of the falls themselves. A little tip; it's completely okay to take your time when ascending to the base of the falls. It is quite steep and can be quite slippery, so be sure to go at your own pace.

Last but not least, enjoy a fairly ice-cold swim under the beautiful cascades of water at . Please remember that this waterfall is on Private Property - so be sure to take any rubbish or belongings with you from the spot, that way everyone can enjoy these natural wonders!
