There are many hundreds of excellent painters around. I like many of them but my all time favourite has to be Salvador Dali. I even flew from Perth to Sydney once to see an exhibition of Dali and this was sure worth it! I still have a bottle of perfume designed by Dali which I bought at this exhibition! The perfume has long gone, however, the bottle is typical of Salvador Dali and his way out thinking and painting. Although I deviate once again, here is a picture of that precious bottle!

I used to own all sorts of other Dali products including books and lithographs. I find this man just fascinating - how could he possibly dream up these sometimes weird and quirky ideas?

There are other surrealist artists about but none can equal the quality and imagination Dali had. Now I am excited to say, there is a Dali exhibition and immersive experience coming to Perth - 'Dali After Dark. This exhibition will be held on Monday 28th January to Sunday 17th February 2018. The venue is Metro City, 146 Roe St, Northbridge and it will be on from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

This exhibition is a world premiere and part of the Fringe World Festival. It will be a riveting event taking you right into the heart of DaliLand with the award-winning Briefs Factory.

You will be able to wander through this "carte du jour of live carnal mischief, experience visceral masterpieces and ferocious mayhem as the surreal becomes reality."

The exhibition will be a theatrical extravaganza set amongst the original works of Salvador Dali! You will be able to peruse this exhibition at your own pace and decide where you want to go and what you want to see. With anything related to Dali, most people see things differently and each journey into his works is unique!

This indoor promenade performance will last up to 2 hours. After you go into the exhibition, you can stay inside the performance for as long as you want or until it ends, after which you can always stay and enjoy some drinks at the rooftop bar.

At this exhibition, you will virtually enter the mind of Salvador Dali and the exhibition will be dedicated to the surrealist master. There will be more than 200 works including drawings, sculptures, film, graphics, virtual reality, and photography.

You will be able to see 'Unconscious Contemporary' a secondary exhibition of contemporary artists including work by early surrealists such as Max Ernst, Andre Masson, Jean Cocteau, Georgio de Chirico, Andre Breton and Man Ray. You can buy your tickets at this Fringe World site.

There will also be a Surrealist Ball and you can read about and book for this at this site.

[b]MORE ABOUT SALVADOR DALI**
Dali was born in Spain in May 1904 and died in January 1989. He was one of the most versatile and prolific artists of the 20th century and the most famous surrealist ever. His themes were often obsessive and in many instances, he painted about eroticism, death, and decay.

Timeline describes Dali as "The man. The master. The Marvel. Salvador Dali is one of the most celebrated artists of all time." He was known often because of his trademark - an unusual and kinky moustache!

He made the most unusual paintings, jewellery and sculptures and his creativity was second to none. Considered very eccentric, he even has a museum dedicated to him. This is in St. Petersburg which is located west of Tampa in the USA.
