Take your wallet with you
Do you like to be surprised? I've been living in the same area for over twenty years and I am still surprised when I stumble across something a little special, something a little different. Doesn't matter if it's animal, vegetable or mineral, I just love a new find, don't you?

Daisy Layne is a new addition to the array of specialist retail outlets dotted around the Redlands, in Brisbane's southern bayside area.

A bright and colourful front window immediately grabbed my attention during a visit to one our favourite breakfast haunts. You just can't walk past something so welcoming, can you?

Daisy Layne specialises in new home decor, including new and upcycled furniture. Think you have seen all the refurbished furniture you ever need too? Have a look at this amazing camphor wood chest restoration. And here is the rub: Sandy is an artist, and this is a project she completed with husband, Mike.

The shop is full of evidence of Sandy's love of colour and flowers, having designed the unique cushion covers and accessories herself. Perfect for the Queensland lifestyle Sandy's matching artwork only accentuates the look.

The other really great thing about Daisy Layne is that it also features the creative works of other local artisans. Just look at these beautiful pieces.

Yes, it gets even better:

Sandy has recently published and illustrated her first children's book, The Chooks, available onsite and in both hardcover and soft cover versions. It is a cute little story, again with the author's flair for colour, and most importantly, it features a local setting - Coochiemudlo Island.

Did I mention that there is a range of kids tees to match the books?

And yes, there are gift lines as well.

Here's the really big surprise. I made a really decent start on my Christmas shopping.

Thanks May. Looks like my kind of place. Loved the camphor chest.
