Exquisite homewares & gift store in the Redlands
As Christmas is not too far away and with an afternoon to fill in, I found myself walking around Cleveland's City Centre with the aim of purchasing a few stocking fillers while also indulging myself in some carefree time alone.

I came across Daisy Layne Homewares situated across the road from the Redlands Council in Bloomfield Street. What drew me to the window and further inside was a brightly coloured three-bolt diving helmet seen in old documentaries and movies. Once I entered, the wow factor was far more than the diving helmet as this amazing store can cater for many requirements from home furnishings and collectables to gifts for men, women and children.

Purchasing for the Man In Your Life or Satisfying an Obsession with Collectables, Daisy Layne Homewares is to place to start (Author's Photo)

Owners Michael and Sandy Clark commenced their journey over four years ago when they decided to swap their corporate lifestyle for a more relaxed one and in doing so, were able to follow Sandy's passion and creative flair in designing colourful pastel drawings printed on fabric and made into cushions. Sandy's artistic talent has not stopped with cushions - she has also written and illustrated three children's books, which focus on the Redlands.

Up-cycle Your Tired Furniture with Jolie Paints (Author's Photo)

Another one of Sandy's passions is to find second-hand furniture items and upcycle them into fine-looking pieces for re-sale. Daisy Layne Homewares is the Brisbane agent for Jolie Premium chalk paint, which can be purchased in several beautiful colours as well as varnish and wax. The beauty of this paint is that you do not have to sand your item to bare wood; you can simply wash the article with sugar soap and paint over the clean surface. It is quite incredible the detail that has come alive on the furniture pieces in the store by using this paint. Painting classes are also available on request.

Daisy Layne are also an international distributor for a product called Slica, which is designed and manufactured here in Brisbane. This friction seal lid enables the paint, varnish or oil, to either be accessed directly from the tin using a brush or poured from the tin while preventing paint, varnish or oil from settling in the channel or covering the label to make it unreadable. SLICA makes opening and resealing your lid easy and reduces rusty tins and rust flakes in your paint.

Stylish & Decorative Furnishings & Art (Author's Photo)

With an eye for colour and the acute ability of arranging décor pieces to promote your home's best features, Sandy offers furniture upholstering services, home styling tips and art choices. Apart from the furniture found in the store, there is also a furniture catalogue available for you to browse and if you see something you would like to purchase, Daisy Layne Homewares can source this for you.

Usually, most women find it difficult to purchase quality presents for the men in their lives, but not so at Daisy Layne Homewares. I stood in awe at the gift options displayed in a cabinet close to the front of the store and in fact, I felt the difficulty would be in deciding what to purchase as there were so many excellent choices.

Clothing for Men & Women, Handbags, Shoes, Scarves & More (Author's Photo)

From the front of the store, the decision to meander right or left was a choice of my own, but each step I took lured me further into the store to another corner of surprises. There are too many items for purchase to list here, however, if you are looking for men's and women's clothing, women's shoes, handbags, scarves, jewellery, wallets, watches, gift lines, perfume from Paris, nautical themes, paintings, bedding, silverware and much more, you will find it here. I must admit, I am attracted to armour from medieval times and if this is your obsession as well, Daisy Layne Homewares has miniature and full-size armour for sale.
