Located in the north/north east of Bandung, on the way to Lembang, is Dago Dreamland Park. If you're in the area, or just fancy somewhere fresh and green to walk, then this place is delightful.

It's set on a hillside and as you enter you'll need to proceed down a long road. At the end of this road, you buy your tickets for parking and entrance. Mopeds are 5,000 IDR and cars 10,000 IDR. Just so you know, this is also the place for the 'extreme' selfies. These are contraptions that you need to be harnessed into and perhaps sit on a flying carpet. Or ride a bike which is suspended on wires. Or even look like you're flying in the balloon house from the movie 'Up'. You have to pay for each of these experiences and it's quite a walk from the main area. Due to these reasons, and the fact I wasn't going to do any of them with a toddler, we didn't visit this area close up but it did look fun.

After you have paid for your tickets continue driving over the bridge, to the second ticket check and then parking. After parking, you have a choice. You can either decide to walk directly downhill through the park, take the little bus at 10,000 IDR per person; the pickup area for this is right at the top of the car park. Or stay at the top for a while as we did. The reason for this is that there's an indoor and outdoor play area, a children's cycle area and a number of eateries.

Right at the top of the food areas, there are some gazebos but you can't bring your own food in. We stayed here for a while as my toddler loves bikes. They also had scooters so the children were able to change between the two as they liked. I'm also glad to say they provided cycle heads as well; the first place I have seen offer these.

Near this area, you'll also find the ticket booth. As normal for these locations, you need to pay for parking, entrance and then also for every and each activity you do. As you can see from this picture most of them cost 30,000 IDR.

After our toddler had enjoyed the bikes, we all decided to walk down the hillside. This venue is really steep. The walk is nice and on the way down you walk past an amphitheatre and lots of fun statues. Just keep your eye open as there are a lot of stair short cuts if you prefer to take these. It's also a lot of fun if someone has paid for the flying fox zipline, as the line whizzes above you as you walk down.

There are also options like horse riding for the children and a private walkway area with lots of picture opportunities. At the bottom of the hill, there's a lovely garden area and a small lake. We enjoyed a quick boat ride before having lunch at one of the two venues in this area. There's also another ticket booth down there should you need it.

I wasn't looking forward to the walk back up the hill and was outvoted when I suggested the bus. With that said, I have to agree the walk wasn't all that bad. We made lots of stops along the way and also took the short cut stairways, but if you don't fancy it the bus is an option.

Before you leave, there's a hut behind the elephant statue in the parking area. Pop in there with all your tickets and you can get a small gift. Depending on the number of tickets it ranges from a park sticker, keyring, drink or fan.

All in all, compared to other parks we have been to like this there wasn't that much to do if you didn't fancy paying for the extra activities. With that said, the activities aren't the most expensive. And the area and walk are both lovely. A very fun day out.

If you've been to any parks like this let me know your favourite and why.
