Buying a bunch of daffodils is a great way to show your support for , especially as this year marks the 25th anniversary in Australia.

The daffodil was chosen as the symbol of hope, mainly because it is a hardy flower that often thrives even after a long, icy winter as a welcome to the new spring season. Daffodil Day became a nationally celebrated event in August of 1992, and has now become an internationally significant day. Across Australia, Daffodil Day aims to raise over $9 million, all towards a great cause, mainly through the efforts of more than 10 000 volunteers. And anyone can get involved in this great cause, including you.

There are many ways to contribute to raising funds and awareness for Daffodil Day. You can sell official merchandise by ordering merchandise boxes for your work, school or individually around your neighborhood. These can be purchased from the Daffodil Day official website . What's best is there is no limit on what how many boxes you order, and are delivered free. This year's box contains 16 daffodil day pens, five key rings, four boxes of daffodil clips, five diamante brooches, and more.

Additionally, you can get your colleagues and friends involved by holding a 'yellow event', which basically is organising a healthy breakfast where everyone wears something yellow, as well as running some competitions and raffles, and of course, getting everyone to chip in a gold coin donation to raise funds for Daffodil Day. There is a great bunch of free resources to help promote your 'yellow event', including an assortment of posters and the Daffodil Day Handbook. For additional school resources, please visit the website .

And for all your hard work, you can have the chance to win some great prizes. For those who have put in the hard yards and raised over $230, you will automatically be entered in to have the chance to win an iPad, valued at over $500. There are also some fantastic runner-up prizes, including to nights accommodation at a Rydges Hotel of your choice, anywhere in Australia; one of eight cinema vouchers that can be used at any participating cinema; and two gold passes to any participating cinema (please check the list of cinemas via the website ).

So get behind this great cause and dress yellow for . There is a great range of additional merchandise available for purchase, including lapels, toys and of course, fresh daffodils. Please ring 1300 65 65 85 or alternatively check the website to find your closest volunteer location and pick up your merchandise. Also note that in order for you to be eligible for prizes, you must collect and send all donations via the website (there are alternative methods of payment ) by the 16th of September; so the earlier you get your donations in, the better chance you have of winning. So raise awareness for Daffodil Day by being a volunteer and raising money for this good cause.
