Hidden away on the not-so quiet Macquarie Street, Sydney, is the showroom of Cyrus Company Australia. Cyrus Company, as I have recently discovered, is known in all the large capitals of the world for its beautiful, unique and innovative furniture and accessories.

I must have walked past the Cyrus Company window every Saturday for weeks before I noticed the simple but stunning furniture display. The display is situated at 135 Macquarie St (corner Bridge St), right next to Aesop's Greek Restaurant, but with the hectic life of Sydney it can be easy to miss. However, I am always on the lookout for a beautiful feature piece of furniture for my home; and once I noticed the display I simply had to investigate.

Unfortunately, I found that the Cyrus Company showroom is closed on the weekend, so I went to the next best thing – their website ! I immediately fell in love with this boutique range of furnishings and accessories. With everything from lounges and beds to nursery furniture, decorative mirrors and even oversized rose covered teapots, it was hard to pick out just a few favourite items.

I visited the showroom during the week and I am glad I did. The furniture was very impressive. Some pieces were exquisitely detailed while others were sharp and sleek. The ideology behind Cyrus Company is that each piece is an artwork of its own and made in Italy with your chosen finishings. Everything from the colour, texture and fabric print is made to your specifications.

I clearly didn't need to look any further to find a feature item for my home. But Italian design and quality this high comes with a price tag; for example you can expect to pay anywhere from $7,000 to $9,000 for a three seater sofa, or $3,500 for an intricately hand-carved and finished chair.

A visit to the Cyrus Company showroom is a must for anyone with a love and knowledge of furnishings and designer accessories. It is also worth the visit for people, who just like me, know very little about furniture – except what they love the look and feel of. Finally, my search for a gorgeous and unique feature item is over; now I just need to decide which piece to purchase first.
