If you would like to try some authentic European food and are in the Hay Market area, do stop by . Situated across the street from Capitol Square on Hay St, this little store offers a huge variety of Russian, German, Polish, Czech and other European delicacies.

Walk in this little store and you will be greeted by Cyril Vincent who is originally from Czech Republic. He opened this shop in 1956 and still runs it. You will be surprised by the large variety of European chocolates, jams, meats, cheeses, dried mushrooms and other products that are available here. There is also a cold store section which offers cold meats, polish pierogies (dumplings) and many other delicacies.

prides itself in selling food products that are not readily available. This was evident to us as my Polish husband picked up products which he hadn't been able to find in Sydney since he came here 5 years ago.

We ended up purchasing some Polish Maggie sauce, Chocolate and Vanilla Pudding, Potato dumplings, Marzipan chocolates, Gelatine, along with a bag of frozen Mushroom and Sauerkraut Pierogies ($18) which Cyril said were his favourite. For all this we paid around $50. We cooked the Pierogies as soon as got home and I will admit, they were some of the tastiest Pierogies we have had in Sydney.

So if you want to try something interesting that is different from the usual Supermarket products, then do stop by , an old fashioned delicatessen. However be prepared to spend a little bit as this store's authentic products don't come cheap!
