Aristotle is a well-known figure in ancient Greek philosophy and science. He has contributed to the fields of politics, psychology and ethics, making contributions to logic, metaphysics, mathematics, physics, biology, botany, ethics, agriculture, medicine, dance and theatre.

He is often referred to as "Father of Western Philosophy". His way of thinking and analysing has been tested and challenged and continues to this day.

I am sure we all occasionally ask why it was that Greece was the centre for philosophy and democracy.

Prof Edith Hall (born 1959) is a British scholar of classics, specialising in Ancient Greek Literature and cultural history, and Professor in the Department of Classics and Centre for Hellenic Studies at King's College London. She is known for her engaging and humorous style of lectureship, so it is with considerable interest that we await to hear her talking about the Ancient Greeks from her new book.
