Woodford to Hervey Bay on two wheels
Held over 9 days in September Cycle Queensland is a two wheel adventure tour of 540km from Woodford to Hervey Bay.
The following video shows footage from last year's event (a loop of the Darling Downs).
There has been an air of excited anticipation at our house since the arrival of our ride packets last week. In a couple of weeks, we will be undertaking this cycling adventure along Queensland country roads.
The Bush to Beach Ride promises to be amazing experience full of glorious scenery visiting wonderful small Queensland communities. Daily distances vary from 43km to 94 km with the options of extending the ride. Along the way riders will encounter a few lumps (hills/mountains) but the sense of personal achievement and spectacular views of the Sunshine Coast hinterland will be worth it or so they say.
The handbook and 40 page ride guide are comprehensive documents that contain maps and information about the towns that are being visited as well as details about the campsite entertainment and shuttle bus timetables.
Day 1 is a 55km warmup loop ride of Woodford before setting off up the hill to Maleny on Day 2. The well deserved rest day in Rainbow Beach comes at Day 6 before the longest day of 94.5 km to Maryborough.
Our cycling adventure will take us to places we have only driven (Maleny) or flown (Hervey Bay) to and some places that we are yet to discover (Gympie, Maryborough, Burrum Heads) but all will be new experiences from the seat of our bikes.
