The
Cycle of Giving , the bike ride to raise awareness about life-giving organ donations, is now in its seventh year, and in 2012 plans to be bigger and better than ever.
Originally started by a couple who were recipients of a heart transplant, the ride continues to be the bike ride 'that keeps on giving'. Known as the event that kicks off DonateLife Week, which runs from 19th to 26th February, the ride is suitable for people of all ages. The annual event has had great success, and continues to raise much-needed funds for an important cause.
There are several distance rides in this event to cater for all types of fitness levels, the ride is meant not to be a competition, but a ride to raise awareness for life-giving organ transplants. Currently, Australia is a world leader in successful organ transplants, and a majority of Australians are willing to become organ donators. Those who have not given a thought to organ donation are encouraged to remember the three "D's": Discover, Decide and Discuss.
All those who want to be part of the ride are encouraged to visit
the website and register (any ride rego can must be done
online prior to the day; cost is just $20). Please note that each ride has a different starting time and starting location, so ensure that you have the correct details. All rides end at New Farm Park, and afterwards there will be a time of celebration, activities and fun to be had by one and all, so don't miss it. In addition, those who register for the bike ride will go into the running for an official ride jersey.
Before and after the ride, there will be plenty of entertainment, displays, food, drink, stalls and much more, to keep you and yours pumped for the entire event. All money raised will be given to the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation to aid medical research in organ transplants. The bike ride is a great way to keep fit or get into shape, while supporting a great cause.
So grab your family and friends for a great day out for a good cause. For more information about the Cycle of Giving, please visit
